CSPS Newsletter 29/8/2025
Principal's News
Dear Families,
We’ve had a remarkably busy couple of weeks during the middle of Term 3 with highlights including our 3-6 swimming carnival, celebration of Science Week and Book Week plus multiple excursions and high school transition opportunities for our Year 6 students.
None of these ‘special’ events happen without additional planning and organising from teachers and our hard-working admin team, nor the flexibility of all staff to make sure rosters work, duties are covered etc. despite the various disruptions.
With that in mind I’d like to acknowledge the whole staff group for their efforts, thank families who’ve been able to volunteer in support of an excursion or have made sure forms are returned and students are organised, and also recognise the students who’ve made the most of every opportunity and represented the school so well while out and about.
Survey season
The 2025 Student Wellbeing & Engagement and School Satisfaction surveys are here!
Students in Year 4-6 will have the opportunity to complete the annual wellbeing survey during the next few weeks.
Data from this survey helps us understand where our effort to support student wellbeing is successful and also helps identify areas where there’s still work to do.
We also want to hear from families via the School Satisfaction Survey to help us inform our school-planning and decision-making.
Every year the Department for Education, Children and Young People conducts the survey to find out what you believe the school does well and where it may improve.
I will be grateful if you take the time to participate in the online survey using the link below.
The survey is open until Friday, 19 September and should take about five minutes to complete.
Each family should nominate one person to fill in this survey for their child(ren).
Take the online survey by clicking this Link, or pasting it in your browser: https://nam.dcv.ms/PF5TgNhXTW
The survey is carried out on a secure website and all responses are anonymous and confidential.
All Campbell Street families use the same survey link and no identifying information is collected. A summary of the survey results will be provided to schools. Responses from individuals or small groups will NOT be disclosed to any Department for Education, Children and Young People staff.
Wellbeing Programs
We’re excited to be hosting three important wellbeing programs in the next few weeks:
The Growing Up Program
Think U Know – online safety
The Bravehearts Ditto Keep Safe Show
These programs focus on educating students about personal wellbeing and protective behaviours, delivering age-appropriate, curriculum-aligned content to support our students’ safety and development.
Staff update
Mrs Linda Flude will be taking planned long-service leave during Term 4 and we will be welcoming Mrs Nikki Docking to the CSPS team to cover Thursday and Friday in the 1/2 class through until the end of the year.
Mrs Docking is well known to our students having been a regular relief teacher throughout the year and, more recently, covering our art classes for the first three weeks this term.
I’m sure you’ll join me in welcoming Nikki to the team and wishing Linda all the best for her long-service leave.

Science Sparks in 3/4 B!
It’s been a wonderfully busy few weeks in 3/4 B as we’ve dived deep into the world of science!
During Science Week, our class had the exciting opportunity to visit Hobart City High School, where we teamed up with high school students for some hands-on scientific exploration. From dissecting flowers to inflating balloons through chemical reactions and experimenting with electrical circuits, the day was packed with discovery and fun.
Back in the classroom, we continued the celebrations by welcoming families to share in our learning. Students proudly showcased their understanding of the water cycle and engaged in a variety of interactive science activities. Highlights included making sherbet, building towers from marshmallows, spaghetti, and lighting up a bulb using our circuit knowledge!
Looking ahead, we’re thrilled to be heading to the Sustainability Centre in Mount Nelson this Thursday. This excursion will deepen our learning about water, the water cycle, climate zones, and environmental change.
Stay tuned for more science adventures!
